Charlott Weise (1991 Görlitz, Germany) practice orbits
personal experience, observation and literature, for example reflecting her
concern with the author Clarice Lispector. The result is a body of work that
involves an intensive use of metaphor to create an intimate mood. Weise’s
paintings are notable for the emotion of the inner experience and for a variety
that ranges from the psychological to the metaphysical.
Weise’s works can
provoke in the viewer an acute awareness of something staged.
The artist
obtained her degree in Fine Arts cum laude at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in
Amsterdam. She has been the subject of individual and collective exhibitions in
that city and has been nominated for the Dutch Royal Award for Modern Painting.
Between 2014 and 2016 the artist received study grants from the Mondriaan Fonds
and has been a participant at De Ateliers.
